On the evening of November 20, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar officially kicked off, attracting the attention of the world. Made in China has also become a beautiful scenery of this World Cup.
On the streets of the Qatari capital Doha, Chinese new energy buses were attracting attention as they plied the streets of the various venues and the city. As a country rich in oil and gas resources, Qatar is introducing new energy buses for the first time to service World Cup events. This is also the first time that Chinese new energy buses have been introduced in large quantities to a major international sporting event.
"Before the new energy buses entered Qatar, there were basically no electric vehicles in Qatar and it was in a monopoly situation of fuel vehicles." said Shen Hui, Yutong's Regional Manager for the Middle East overseas. Yutong Bus won the tender for the Qatar World Cup service bus project in 2020, and the final number of Yutong buses serving this World Cup reached around 1,500, including 888 Yutong pure electric buses, which will serve the public transport network during the World Cup, taking on the task of connecting and securing officials, media and fans from various countries to the stadium venues.

In an interview with the media, Gan Shaoying, deputy manager of Yutong Bus Qatar National Company, said that the Yutong buses from China won the tender first and foremost because of the reliability of the product.
Before entering Qatar, Yutong Bus first sent a team to conduct a comprehensive study of the local climate, road conditions, customer habits, laws and regulations, etc., which was used as a basis for formulating product strategies and developing and optimising suitable models. In response to the high temperature and sandy environment of Qatar, Yutong buses were specially designed with innovative air conditioning and power batteries, and equipped with mud and sand protection structures, so that they could fully adapt to the local environmental conditions and ensure smooth and efficient operation during the World Cup
In addition to the products, Yutong's fast and efficient service is another "killer feature". According to Gan Shaoying, Yutong Bus has developed a special service guarantee plan, which includes parts guarantee, full vehicle inspection, daily spot checks, troubleshooting and rapid response to emergencies, to ensure that there are "zero failures, zero safety accidents, zero breakdowns and zero complaints" for Yutong buses involved in the guarantee.
After the World Cup, all Yutong vehicles will become an important part of Qatar's public transport network.
In addition to product export, Yutong Bus will also carry out in-depth strategic cooperation with Qatar, planning to establish an electric bus factory in Qatar's free trade zone to achieve a breakthrough from China's new energy bus product export to technology export.
In fact, since 2012, China's bus exports have been on the fast track with the accumulation and paving of the previous years, becoming a new growth pole for China's bus industry. Not only Yutong bus, BYD, Ankai bus as the representative of the mainstream bus enterprises are constantly through the export of products, technology, etc., to show the results of the development of China's bus industry.
Data show that from January to August 2022, China exported nearly 30,000 buses (ten seats and above), an increase of 19.3% year-on-year; the export amount exceeded US$1.4 billion, an increase of 29.8% year-on-year; the average export price was US$47,100/unit, an increase of US$0.37 million/unit over the same period in 2021. The export volume of China's new energy buses is growing even faster. From January to August 2022, China's pure electric bus exports grew by more than 200% year-on-year, and the cumulative export volume has exceeded the whole year of 2020 and 2021.
Zhang Haiyang, assistant general manager of Ankai Bus and general manager of the international marketing company, said, "Today, China is the world's largest bus manufacturer and exporter, with a prominent industrial chain advantage, a complete range of products, and a global leader in new energy bus technology."
