WABCO was founded in 1869 in the United States as the Westinghouse Air Brake Company, with George Westinghouse as its founder, and was acquired by American Standard in 1968. The company was acquired by Standard Corporation in 1968 and went public in 2007. Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, Weberco employs more than 7,700 people in 31 countries worldwide. In 2007, total sales reached $2.4 billion. At the same time, WABCO products are increasingly used in luxury cars and sport utility vehicles (SUVs).
