Yutong Takes First Place in Sales of Electric Buses in Europe!

Feb 16, 2023

Recently, Chinese brands overseas have reported another success, with Yutong's pure electric buses picking up the number one spot for pure electric buses in Europe in 2022, thanks to its high-class product strength. According to statistics from Chatrou CME Solutions Europe, Yutong came out on top with 479 licensed units as of December 31, 2022. This first place in Europe also proves to the global market the hardcore strength of Chinese bus brands, including Yutong, in the field of new energy.

In an international market where there are many strong competitors, this is a "golden" honour. Chatrou CME Solutions is a Dutch consulting firm that has long tracked data changes in the new energy commercial vehicle market and has become a "barometer" for the promotion of new energy vehicles in Europe.

The report shows that the European electric bus market has increased by 26% in 2022 compared to 2021, with 4,152 vehicles licensed, which means that the European city bus market has reached 30% of zero emission vehicles in operation. In addition to pure electric buses, alternative energy buses such as hybrids, natural gas and hydrogen fuel cells are also growing significantly, with the penetration rate of new energy buses showing a rapid climb.

Europe is the birthplace of the world's bus industry, and Chinese buses are playing an increasingly important role in driving the green transformation of public transport in Europe. As a leading Chinese bus brand, Yutong is showing strong market appeal, with Yutong's sales of pure electric buses in Europe in 2022 increasing by 58% compared to 2021, and its market share jumping from 9.2% in 2021 to 11.5% in 2022, surpassing European brands such as Mercedes-Benz and Volvo, and already establishing a significant market advantage over local competitors. . This also confirms that the overall manufacturing level of Chinese buses, represented by Yutong, and the accumulation of technology in the field of new energy vehicles have reached a high global level.

The changing energy landscape has given Chinese car brands the opportunity to "overtake" the market, and this first "win" in Europe is the result of Yutong's active promotion of Chinese manufacturing "abroad". The first victory in the European market is the result of Yutong's active promotion of "going abroad". At present, European countries are consciously promoting zero-emission public transport, and as a leader in the bus industry, Yutong is actively promoting the transformation of its role from a bus manufacturer to a green mobility solutions provider, with the "Yutong model" of "product + service". The "Yutong model" of "product + service" continues to develop overseas markets, helping Chinese buses to shine globally.

In recent years, the overseas new energy market has been booming, and with its core strengths in products, services, solutions and technology, Yutong Bus' "internationalisation" strategy has seen significant opportunities and a steady expansion of its overseas footprint. At the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), Yutong was invited to participate as the representative of "Made in China" in the field of public transport, and joined hands with the International Federation of Public Transport (UITP) and internationally renowned operators to launch the Zero Carbon Initiative, with 55 Yutong pure electric buses serving the public during COP26. In Chile, Yutong's flagship pure electric bus T13E made its world debut and was delivered, and Yutong worked with the Chilean government and customers to establish the Team Zero alliance to help Chile further improve its urban public transport system and realise the dream of green public transport. At the 2022 World Football Event in Qatar, 888 Yutong pure electric buses were involved in transport protection, demonstrating the charm of green mobility to global visitors.

The pursuit of excellence and strong comprehensive strength are fundamental to Yutong's ability to continuously expand its market territory in Europe. Since Yutong entered the European market in 2018, it has exported a total of over 2,200 buses, covering many European countries such as Poland, Denmark, France, Finland, Norway, the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Iceland. From the delivery of the 500th bus exported to the UK, to the successive entry of pure electric buses into the four Nordic countries, from taking the largest single order for pure electric buses in Europe during the epidemic, to setting up the first regional spare parts centre depot in Langes, France, Yutong has gradually gained recognition in developed European countries with extremely stringent environmental requirements.

Up to now, Yutong has sold more than 170,000 new energy buses worldwide. In the future, Yutong will further advance towards its goal of being the world's leading bus and mobility solutions provider with a more complete product chain and a more advanced level of bus technology.
